VBS Parade Float

"Ahoy mateys! Join us for a thrilling adventure as we set sail for TREASURE ISLAND!"

Yep...VBS is only a few weeks away. We're so excited! Lots of prep work and advertising has already been done, and there's still much to do. This past weekend we poured much time and effort into a VBS float for our town parade....

Working on the float

Some of our little helpers! :)

Like the sign I painted? (there's actually a duplicate one on the other side of the float). It took most of Thursday afternoon and all day Friday to paint them, but I think it was worth it....

Palm trees made out of carpet tubes and poster board...

What's Treasure Island without treasure?

Getting ready to start the parade! The kids got to ride the float and throw candy while the adults walked alongside and passed out fliers.

You'll notice that the boat mast in this picture is MUCH shorter than the one in the first picture of the post. That's because it was so tall (15 feet) that we couldn't clear the power lines while we rode down the street! We had to cut about 4 feet off before we could even start the parade :)

During the parade...

Some of the adults and I took turns pulling a wagon full of fliers. I think we passed out about 500 that day! For our small town, that's great! :)

Poor Adam trying to catch up with the wagon :)

Do ya think we got a little sun? :) We forgot to bring sunscreen, so we both look like lobsters now (especially Adam!).

Many thanks to everyone who helped with the parade! We couldn't have done it without you :)

  2. Lol! Sorry, Rachael, you'd be a little too old for VBS, but you could definitely come and help if you want to :) We sure could use you!

  3. Great post, Katie! So fun to see what you've been doing - and it looks like a lot of work (& a lot of fun!)

    Love you both so much,
