Trip to the Maryland Zoo

Yesterday Adam and I took Zach Putnam (a kid from church) to the Maryland Zoo. Zach is an only child and doesn't have many friends, so Adam wanted to take him out and do something fun. The zoo was great!

What a life!

The skunks were smelly!

I took this picture of a raven because one of my favorite literature poems is "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. "Quoth the raven, 'Nevermore!'"

That's one BAD hair day!

Adam's gonna make a GREAT dad someday (no, that is NOT a hint! :)). Here he is helping Zach locate the different animals through the binoculars.

It must be a guy thing...

Next, we visited the chimpanzees...

I see the resemblance, don't you? :)

In the bamboo forest

I thought this was an interesting sign for the ladies' room!

Camera-man Adam!

These fellas looked like they were having fun diving into the pool!

This one reminded me of Adam in his tux on our wedding day :)

He was kind enough to pose for us...

More animals!

We got pizza and free ice cream for lunch!

After lunch, Adam and Zach rode the train...

In this picture, Adam is jumping on the moveable bridge. Thankfully, I was still on the other side...

Getting ready to enter the cave

SPOOOOOOOOKY!

Zach found a heart-shaped leaf and gave it to me :)

Our last stop was the barnyard, where we were able to compare our heights to the different types of horses.
Adam was a Clydesdale...

Zach needed a little help!

Please notice that I was the THOROUGHBRED. :)

We had a great time together at the zoo!

Evening Walks

The evenings have been so beautiful here recently that we decided to take a few walks around our town.

The scenery is so lovely!

We found a park nearby and decided to have a little fun :)

Resting on a park bench...

"One small step for Adam; one giant leap for mankind." :)

Tonight Adam surprised me by treating me to ice cream at Summer's, an ice cream place down the street from us...

Mmmmmm!

I think the ice cream made us a little loopy... ;)

Adam thought it would be fun to tap me on the nose with his spoon...

Summer's has really neat decor, including these cool surfboards (but Adam didn't like the fish :))

We have an old train station just a block or two from our house. Unfortunately, it's not in use and looks rather run-down, but it's a neat part of history that's practically in our backyard!

When I looked inside the train station window, I noticed that the ticket prices listed were from April 29, 1928!

Adam pretending to be the conductor...

Ah, yes, the old pasttime of walking the railroad tracks! He was doing okay for a while...

...until the tracks got wider...

...hmmm...he may be in trouble up ahead. :)

The old Stewartstown water tower.

We saw this big guy in someone's yard as we walked. Adam thought he could take him.

I know a few people who could use a bumper sticker like this one! :)

Here I am at the Post Office checking box 33 at the end of our walk...
Love you all!
